CVAF Kick Off Picnic & Balkwill/AGR Open House

Picnic in Les Sherman Park and Open House at
Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre / Art Gallery of Regina (AGR)
Monday, May 21st - 12 noon to 4 pm

Enjoy an afternoon full of live music, and culture from drama to karate, face painting to crafts, outside in the park and inside the art centre! 

Open House: 12:30 – 3:30 Visit the studios for some “Unexpectedly” fun hands-on art and craft activities including “Comic Jam” drawing with Christine Moleski; Demos on 3-D printing and Jewelry design; and Crazy Collage workshops for all ages.s

Art on display: In the AGR main gallery, paintings by David Dreher: "Velvet Soapbox" Using humour as a lens to look closely at his personal beliefs, Dreher creates collage-style paintings in a photo-realistic style.
Drop into the gallery and learn more about collage with a hands-on activity with members of Regina Collage Collective.
In the hallway galleries: “Night and Day” paintings by Ernie Klinger and Sally Hui; “Flowing Spirit” jewelry by Maria Hendrika; “Cut-Ups” mixed-media art by Regina Collage Collective, and the wonderful artwork by local students.

Pop-up art exhibition in a Garage Gallery: William Bessai-Saul introduces Dark World Pud, an exhibition of twisted drawings inspired by those comics you find in gum. All ages welcome.

SKNAC's Online Art Auction has over 250 artworks on offer from Saskatchewan collectors, and from local charities including Creative Kids, Grandmothers 4 Grandmothers, and from the collection of SaskCentral being sold to benefit The United Way. In conjunction with this exhibition there will be an Art Book Sale in an adjoining room, with hundreds of new and used books, many of them on Saskatchewan art and artists.

Our Street Fair brings together hundreds of local artists, craftspeople and local businesses into one amazing market. As you walk through the fair, there will be special pop up performances and demos through-out the day:
-Drop into the Artesian for a diverse range of sound art performances providing a counterpoint to the bustle and energy outside. Drone Day 2018 presented by Holophon Audio Arts is part of an annual International celebration of Drone Music initiated in 2012 by Wyrd Arts Initiatives.  Come into the space, have a listen, stay as long as you like.
-at Traditions Handcraft Gallery, Meet the artist, Cindy Obuck with a demo of her new work, painting with Alcohol Inks.
-at Paper Umbrella you can expect a charming performance by a young artist, Aidan in the morning; and the “Unexpected” in the afternoon…
-Meet our CVAF featured buskers at the "Expect the Unexpected" Booth #401 
It's a "Cabaret of Fantastical and Curious Performance" through-out the day with a variety of artists including performance artist Karla Kloeble as The Ballerina Music Box Dancer,  and Regina’s own Tripp Coleman, Close-up Magician performing astonishing feats of micro-magic. Meet Treaty Four artist and painter Richard Dubois, and International performance artist and sculptor, Tom Brown who will showcase his work in miniatures by cooking a Tiny Food Feast in a working, doll-house size kitchen. 
-at Brandees (west alley) drop by the Make Your Mark Mural wall and visit with Josh Goff and the artists of 11 Hooks, stay for music by DJ Merky Waters and more!
