The Winthrop Coliseum
What is a Pow Wow? A Pow Wow is a gathering of Native Americans where they celebrate and hold a friendly dance competition. It is a sacred time of sharing and catching up with old friends.
What Can I Do There? At the Pow Wow you can watch the exhibition and competition dancing. You can also shop for Native arts and crafts. As you are enjoying your day you can also eat traditional foods including Roasted Corn, Buffalo, Mutton, Collard Greens, Indian Tacos and Frybread.
What Can Kids Do There? We will have fun activities for kids of all ages including face painting, storytelling, and craft demonstrations, a coloring contest and games throughout the day. Kids will also enjoy seeing the many different types of Regalia (the outfits the dancer’s wear) and dances throughout the day.
