Casa Milagro Home page

Established in 1999, Casa Milagro is a therapeutic community for adults with mental illness. We are located on two acres of land in Santa Fe County with views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Casa Milagro has the capacity to house twelve adults in a home that has an art studio, meditation room, expansive kitchen, and much more! Our goal is to offer a safe and supportive environment for self-healing.

Casa Milagro is a cooperative environment—we support each other and our home. Relationships among residents are important to development of social skills and to personal wellness. We emphasize intentional, respectful non-violent communication. We have an integral relationship with several therapists and psychiatrists in the Santa Fe Community—some even make house calls!

In addition to traditional therapy, we believe caring for our animals are essential to our well-being. There is no better medicine than the unconditional love we receive from our furry friends.

Several residents attend Santa Fe Community College, either working toward a degree or for creative enrichment.

We believe it is important to give back to the community. Our residents volunteer—spending time with the elderly, children, and animals in need. Our services for residents include skills assessment, help with job applications, and on site job coaching.

Each resident gains skills for independent living by assisting with:
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Grocery shopping
  • Laundry
  • Daily and weekly chores
  • Grounds keeping
  • Pet feeding and care

Several in-house activities are offered:
  • Animal care
  • Art therapy
  • Studio art
  • Creative writing
  • Meditation
  • Physical fitness
