Build 'em up, Tear 'em down
Build 'em up, Tear 'em down
This is a three-photo panorama of the build-tables in the projection booth.

Shots were taken with an old Canon ZR-10 (low res) and the pano was only loosely put together to avoid loosing what little information is available in each shot. So, pardon the rough cuts.

These tables are were films are assembled and tore-down when we get them from the studios and before we ship them off to the next theater. We also would assemble preview reels here that are appended to each feature.

Lots of splicing, repairing, and assembly goes on here. The night before most films are premiered (Thursday night before Friday premiers) are busy, busy. It can require two full-time people to do nothing but tear down outgoing and build up incoming film in time for the next day.

There's a lot of skill and care that must go into this work.

Wide view of the circle upper seating from the screen. Quite sad to see that the plush upholstery has suffered a little from no maintenance but the heating is still being kept running through the radiators so there is no damp damage at all... well, unless you consider the leaky roof; you can see a couple of panels missing at the top right where the roof has now been fully repaired and is good for another 50+ years. This upper circle was cut off from the lower stalls in 1980. I still remember the original design albeit a little vaguely! This picture is comprised of 30 individual shots in portrait orientation with the Canon 16-35 L f2.8; - 13 across the middle - 8 across the top - 9 to fill in the floor
