January 2011: CHNA Meeting

The whole community is invited to meet at Carole Highlands Elementary to take care of regular CHNA business and to share ideas, questions, and concerns about our neighborhood. Among the items we’ll need to do: Adopt bylaws (Nancy has a draft which we’ll revisit and circulate in advance) and elect officers for 2011. Exact date and time TBA.

December 4, 2010: Neighborhood Cleanup & Bulky Trash Pickup

Let's keep Carole Highlands clean together!  The clean-up will be on Saturday, Dec. 4th 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Meet at Drexel and Sligo Creek Parkway East (off Drexel between Delmont and 16th Ave.)

Coffee and doughnuts will be provided at 9 a.m. Trash bags and gloves will also be provided.

On both Saturday and Sunday (Dec 4-5), dumpsters for bulky trash items will be available at Drexel & Sligo Parkway East and at the corner of 15th & 16th Aves. If you need help getting items to or into the dumpster, we will have volunteers help on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., but you must RSVP to or call 301.439.9547.

Items ACCEPTED for dumpster:  Bagged or boxed trash; furniture; mattresses & box springs; unusable toys, swings sets, etc.; bicycles, grills (without gas cylinders); lawnmowers, etc.

Items NOT ACCEPTED for dumpster: Tires; antifreeze, engine oil; transmission fluid, batteries; paint, chemicals, pesticides; aerosol cans; toxins; computer parts, t.v.; commercial construction debris; tree stumps; firewood; washers; dryers; refrigerators; hot water heaters, etc.

October 17, 2010, 1:00-4:00 pm: 16th Ave Block Party

Enjoy the cool Sunday afternoon with us at the 16th Avenue cul-de-sac. Everyone is invited. Bring your family and friends!  We'll provide the grill and some basic fixings (cups, plates, napkins, water, etc). Music and games for the little ones. Bring your own potluck dish or goodies for the grill.
