Orientations last about two hours. You do not need to register to attend, but it is preferred that you please submit an online Volunteer Application before arrival.  Please be on time as late arrivals will have to attend the next orientation date. During the orientation you will:

  • Learn about Canine Adoption and Rescue League's mission, its activities and available volunteer opportunities.

  • Learn the basic "dos" and "don'ts" that help keep people and dogs safe.

  • Sign the insurance-mandated liability waiver.

  • During the volunteer's initial day with the dogs, new volunteers will be paired with an experienced volunteer lead who will conduct "on-the-job" training in dog handling, kennel maintenance and fulfilling all of the responsibilities required of the position to which the volunteer is assigned.

Our dogs and volunteers can't wait to meet you. Your support and time will help save and enrich a dog's life!

As of August 9, 2012, due to new insurance policy rules, volunteers must be 18 years or older to have direct contact with our dogs.

There are other ways to help the dogs until you turn 18 and can handle dogs directly!
