About me

Currently, I am a Lecturer/Researcher at the Graduate Program in Computer Science (PPGIA) of the Pontifical Catholic University of Parana (PUCPR), Curitiba, Brazil.

My current academic positions are:
  • Head of the Computer Music Technology Research Group.
  • Member of the Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery Research Group.
  • Lecturer in the undergraduate courses of the Polytechnic School.
Before joining PUCPR I was a Lecturer/Researcher at the Federal University of Technology of Parana (UTFPR), Cornélio Procópio, Brazil, where I was also the Head of the Graduate Program in Informatics (PPGI)  (From December 2012 to December 2015).

My main research interests are:

  • Music Information Retrieval and Computer Music
  • Bioinformatics and Protein Function Prediction
  • Machine Learning and Bayesian Network Classifiers
  • Computer Science and Engineering Education
Education
  • Ph.D. in Computer Science at the School of ComputingUniversity of Kent, United Kingdom.  The title of my Ph.D. thesis is "Novel Approaches for Hierarchical Classification With Case Studies in Protein Function Prediction".
