About Commission Paintings

COMMISSION PAINTINGS
One of the most gratifying aspects of painting is to create a painting for a patron or client.
These paintings are called Commission Paintings.  Some times it is only an image that has been lurking in a person’s mind. The thrill for me is to transfer the illusive image in the mind’s eye of my client onto the surface of a canvas;
It could be a nostalgic portrait, a sailboat, a pet, or almost any subject, which you can imagine.  It is one of the most challenging aspects for an artist, when the painting is completed and the client is happy with the finished painting.
The Internet and a digital camera have made communication with a client a lot easier. In the past the client had to come to the studio to see the work in progress. Today digital pictures are taken during the course of the painting procedure.  The client can change things or request different objects be added or deleted.  All photos and discussions can be magically transmitted by the use of an attachment to an E-mail. When the painting is completed to the client’s satisfaction, only then is it shipped for framing.
