Thanksgiving Market

& Silent Auction 2019

On October 12, 2019 the Carling Market hosted it's annual Market, Silent Auction and Buffet Breakfast. Our recipient charity for 2019 was the Bob Rumball Camp of the Deaf, a camp begun by the late Rev. Bob Rumball in 1960 located just south of Parry Sound.

Rev Rumball was an advocate for those with special needs, as his organization has grown throughout the decades to include many facilities in the area and in major cities. The Camp is a place where a deaf child or adult could enjoy a summer camp experience, develop their leadership and outdoor skills and take a vacation from feeling different. Camp staff and volunteers are trained in American Sign Language so there are no communication barriers. With the support of service clubs and individuals the Camp is able to subsidize up to 85% of the campers, which is crucial as so many of the campers come from disadvantaged backgrounds with families that would otherwise be unable to afford registration fees. The mission of the Bob Rumball Organizations is to provide care and opportunities in a communication-rich environment that enhances the quality of life to those it serves.

Carling Market Committee President Ingrid Thompson went to visit the Bob Rumball Camp of the Deaf to drop off the donation from our Thanksgiving Event in October.

Thanks to the generosity of the community we raised $3500 for the camp!!

We are beyond thrilled by the generous donations from businesses around the area for this annual event.

There were 60 items up for auction for the Silent Auction and had over 200 people (adults and children) attend the Buffet Breakfast.

It was a smashing success!
