Pathways to Prosperity Institute

Summary of the Pathways to Prosperity Institute:

The California Department of Education, in collaboration with the California Community College Chancellor’s Office, the California Workforce Investment Board, and the Pathways to Prosperity Network hosted a Pathways to Prosperity Institute in Sacramento, Clovis, and Los Angeles in December 2013. The institute shared strategies on how education and industry worked together to create high-quality career pathway programs aligned with the local and regional needs of business and industry.

The Institute had representatives from the Pathways to Prosperity Project at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, Jobs for the Future,  and Boston Private Industry Council to discuss the following topics:

·         Developing sustainable collaborations between educational agencies and businesses;

·         Creating regional career pathways aligned to local labor market needs;

·         Integrating academic and career-based learning aligned to high-need, high-growth, and emerging regional economic sectors; and

·         Establishing effective work-based learning programs between educational agencies and businesses.
