New Cell Phone Policy at Westover Composite Squadron

posted Dec 1, 2015, 6:28 PM by Westover Civil Air Patrol

Good Evening Everyone,

Over the last few weeks it has been noticed that many cadets are having a hard time keeping cell phones put away during class times.  This is disheartening, as this is normally not a problem.  However, when cadets choose to pay more attention to their cell phones instead of instructors, we have to rectify the situation.  Therefore, the new policy on cell phones will be instituted as follows:

1.  Upon signing in to the meeting, cadets will place cell phones in the plastic holder on the front bulletin board.
2.  Cadets may access their cell phones while on break, and then return them to the bulletin board prior to the start of the next class.
3.  Cadets will collect their phones at the end of the night.
4.  Cadets have the option to leave phones at home.  However, I do understand the need the need for parents to have a way to contact their children while at the meeting in case of emergency.  The squadron telephone number if needed for an emergency is 413-557-3124.

* We know that issues come up from time to time.  If a cadet needs his/her phone on their person for a specific reason, the cadet must report to a member of the Cadet Programs Staff and advise them of the situation.

Thank you all in advance for your cooperation!

Westover CAP to march in Big E Parade

posted Sep 1, 2015, 8:23 PM by Claire Belden

Cadets and Seniors of the Westover Composite Squadron have been invited back to march the Chicopee Day Big E Parade.  This will take place on September 29, 2015.  We will meet at the Bus Pavilion at Gate 1 at 4pm.  Parking passes will NOT be provided, so please plan accordingly when finding parking for the event.  Parents may drop cadets off at the Bus pavilion (just advise the gate attendant you are dropping off a parade participant).

Cadets will be under the care of CAP members while at the event for the parade, which will conclude around 6:30pm. There is no admission cost for those marching in the parade. Following the parade, parents can pick cadets up at Gate 1 where they were dropped off.  If cadets are allowed to stay after completion of the parade, they will no longer be under CAP Senior supervision, so please plan to either pick up your cadets or allow them to stay under their own recognizance.

The uniform of the day will be short sleeve blues with no tie.  Please reference CAPM 39-1 when prepping uniforms for this event, we want to look sharp!  See any staff member with uniform questions prior to the activity.  For those staying after the parade, please bring civilian attire to change into.  Please bring any spending money for food or other items to be purchased after the parade.  Permission slips were given out on 9/1/15, however more will be available at the 9/8/15 meeting!
