Capital Area Physicians for Human Rights (CAPHR) was a non-profit organization of GLBT Health Care Professionals and students living in the DC Metropolitan Area. It was started in the late 1970's by a group of gay and lesbian physicians. CAPHR once had around 100 members and an additional 100 people on its mailing list.

CAPHR served as an educational, networking, and social organization which provided an opportunity for bringing together GLBT Health Care Professionals in a gay-friendly setting. CAPHR used to have around one function a month, either a networking or social program or an educational event, usually a medical lecture by a physician at an area restaurant.

Other important functions that CAPHR served included providing outreach to local medical students and providing opportunities for networking with other local and national GLBT health care and other professional organizations.
