Lt Col - Lieutenant Colonel - Highest grade possible for most senior members

SFO - Senior Flight Officer Grade reserved for former cadets now senior members ages 18-21

SM - Senior Member - Reserved for first time Senior Members who have just joined 

**A Senior member that wishes to join CAP who is also in the armed forces may opt to keep their current military NCO rank, regardless of their branch of service. If they do, there are currently no options for promotion in CAP, unless promoted in the military, or be promoted to 2d Lt in CAP. A Senior NCO will outrank a SM, but be below a Flight Officer.**
