Office of the Seneschalate:

The branch Seneschal manages the administration of the group’s historical recreation, directing the activities of other officers  and making interpretations of and clarifications to the policies governing historical recreation aspects of the Society.

Chancellor of the Exchequer:

The Chancellor of the Exchequer is in charge of all financial activities for the accounts of the Canton of Ritterwald. This office compiles financial information and reports to the Atlantian Chancellor of the Exchequer.

College of Arms:

Heralds in the Society for Creative Anachronism have many jobs. On the branch level, you can contact the group's herald in order to obtain help researching and submitting a name or heraldry. They may also be able to assist with issues of protocol.


Earl Marshal of Ritterwald:

The Earl Marshal is responsible for martial activities in the local group and must be warranted in at least one of the following disciplines: armored combat, rapier combat, cut and thrust combat, siege weapons, combat archery, target archery, or equestrian activities.

Ministry of Arts & Sciences:

The Minister of Arts and Sciences is responsible for fostering the study of period culture and technology, and methods for producing historically accurate artifacts and performances.

Office of the Chatelain:

The branch Chatelain is in charge of newcomer relations. They normally maintain and promote a groups Gold Key (loaner garb and gear for use by newcomers) and can also assist with media relations and public demonstrations. This officer may be called a chatelain, chatelaine (feminine form of the word), or hospitaller.

Chronicler of Ritterwald:

The office of the chronicler oversees all non-electronic publishing for the local group. The branch Chronicler maintains any published newsletters and normally works closely with the Webminister to help disseminate the newsletters.


Office of the Web Ministry:

The office of the webminister oversees all electronic publishing for the local group. The branch Webminister maintains this site. For information on using photographs, articles, or artwork from this website, please contact the Webminister. They will assist you in contacting the original creator of the piece.


Seigneur Etienne Le Mons d'Anjou is assisting the Seneschal with maintenance of the website.

Family and Youth Programs:

Many SCA local groups and kingdoms have Youth officers, who assist parents in integrating children’s and youth activities into events. While not a required office, having a Youth officer helps the group to grow.
