Summary of Day 6: - New dot4 fluid for the hydro clutch... I had to pump the shit out of the lever to finally get some feedback and no more air through the line. Clutch is back to it's normal firmness, but still isn't disengaging..... I think it's just the hydro system getting gunked up, there was a ton of crap in the reservoir that I had to clean out. Hopefully this'll work it's way out once the motor's left running for a bit - Removed tank... this turned out to be a bigger task than I wanted, the fuel line to the petcock is original-- 22 years of hardening meant no easy way to get it off. Ended up snipping it, that should've been replaced by now - Removed carbs... another tricky one that required some shortcuts. For one, the intake pipes to the head are ROCK hard, I really had to jimmy my way off. Two, the airlines from the intake were glued to the intake brackets.... I'm guessing to seal it better by one of the previous owners. Sticky and nasty, we'll avoid that once I'm done creating some pod filters. I don't like the air intake setup anyway, it doesn't make very much sense to me to have so much crap packed under the seat without any vents or ram air to it... pods would've freed up a lot of that area around the battery, similar to the 70s CBs. The choke line was held down by a stripped screw... cut that line, and am planning on removing the screw tomorrow with the dremel. Shouldn't be too big of a deal, I want to replace all of the cabling anyway. - Removed all the ignition hardware + subframe. Subframe is in pretty good condition, after giving a quick once over. Took off the valve cover, just to see what condition the rest of it is in.. It's not bad, I don't think I'll need to dremel polish too much since it's pretty flat-- partsource has a polishing wheel kit that I want to try out, it includes a few different attachments - Removed cluster to attempt a resto on.. I may as well, a new one will cost me more than pipes or a jetkit would. I'm pretty sure there was more, but I'm so f'n tired.....
