Gina Crimmins, CPDT -KA
I decided to make a major change in my life that was long overdue. My most recent employment was in customer service for almost 16 years, and although it was very enjoyable, it was not my passion. So for the past 11 years, I have been immersing myself in all things Dog!
One of the most valuable of these experiences has been the successful completion of a week long intensive intern program with Pat Miller. Pat Miller is a well known trainer in the industry. In addition to authoring two well known training books she is the Training Editor for Whole Dog Journal, This experience broadened my knowledge of canine behavior and learning theory. I also was an apprentice for a local trainer in both classes and in-home training. This practice exposed me to many different breeds and personalities, and gave me a chance to develop my skills as a trainer of both dogs and people.
At the same time, I started my own business, Canine Wellness, Inc., which provides individual and group dog training services, the sale of premium products and mid-day dog walks. Established in July of 2003, the past 11 years have increased my confidence and understanding of dog learning considerably.
I have always shared my life with breeds that are usually considered "challenging" -- German Shepherds, Alaskan Malamutes, and my current companions are two Parson Russell Terriers and a Border Collie. One of the things this has taught me is that not every method works for every dog, and this pushed me to seek out alternative training methods. It has also made me a more patient instructor.
In pursuit of my continuing education, I have attended several seminars taught by highly respected individuals in the industry, some of which include Patricia McConnell, Jean Donaldson, Trish King, Suzanne Clothier and Karen Becker. In March of 2006, I passed the Certification for Pet Dog Trainers exam.
My goal is to help people and their canine companions to have a more harmonious and joyful life together!
