Short Bio

I am a Senior Researcher & Team Leader in the Research Department of Wisers Information Ltd. in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Wisers, I was a Researcher at Huawei Noah's Ark Lab from Oct 2012 to Nov 2014. At Noah's Ark Lab, I led and conducted R&D projects on social media mining for user modeling. I also collaborated with Jie Tang and his team at Tsinghua UniversityFrom Sep 2008 to Sep 2012, I was a Research Fellow in the School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University, where I worked with Jing Jiang on unsupervised information extraction in collaboration with Singapore's DSO National Laboratories, and Ee-Peng Lim on trust mining in social networks.

I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009, under the supervision of Stephen Chi-Fai Chan and Fu-Lai Chung. My Ph.D. research focused on data and text mining techniques with applications to collaborative filtering and sentiment analysis.

Research Interests

I am interested in data and text mining approaches to recommendation and prediction problems, especially those involving user-generated content. Specifically, I have been working on information extraction from natural language texts, sentiment analysis, social network analysis, and collaborative-filtering-based recommender systems.
