The Rabbit Died (Holidays From Hell short story series)
Zelda Bowen isn’t big on family holidays, but this Easter has all the makings of a world-class disaster. Her father has recently run off with the bimbo at his office, leaving behind the question: who will wear the Easter Bunny costume and pass out the baskets to the kids? A job that, until this year, was always his.

This humorous yet touching story opens with Zelda and her sisters arguing over who should wear the bunny suit and carry on the family tradition. To the delight of her nieces and nephew, Zelda dons the costume, while her mother, toked-up on medicinal marijuana, shoots daggers at the oversized bunny. As emotions and antics ramp up, the day becomes one of those memor-able "holidays from hell" many of us have experienced.

The Rabbit Died is the first short story in the Holidays From Hell series by best-selling author Sue Ann Jaffarian. Visit www.sueannjaffarian.com for more information about upcoming stories in the series and other full-length works by the author.

"The Memorial Arena has played a significant role in Belleville's sports history for over 70 years. It is situated next to the historic market and was built in 1929 and was to be a smaller version of the well-known Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens but was modified. This building was purchased by the City in 1946 and was renamed in 1947 "The Memorial Arena" from the "Hume Arena" as a dedication to those who died in the war". "Many famous hockey players have played hockey here and was home to the 1958 Allan Cup Senior Hockey League and the 1959 World Champions, The Belleville MacFarlands". - Info from Belleville Heritage The manager who assembled the 1959 champion team that beat the Soviets was Drury Denyes. His widow lives at the retirement in which I work. She told me about the "Belleville MacFarlands", sparking my interest in both the team and the arena in which they played. Belleville, Ontario

Latvia's Olympic hockey team captain Karlis Skrastins daughter cheering her daddy on in the stands vs the Czechs. The Latvian team played like champs in this qualification playoff game erasing a 2-0 deficit and tying the game late in the 3rd period. Ultimately losing in OT to a star studded Czech team made up of mostly NHL players. We were sitting behind the Latvia bench and got caught up in the fun of cheering for them with the Latvians around us. Definitely a heroic effort that made it a great game to watch. EDIT: For those of you who don't know, I'm sad to say that this little girl and her mother are now without a father and a husband... Karlis died along with the rest of his KHL team is a recent russian plane crash. RIP Karlis.

The Day Christ Died
"This is a book about the most dramatic day in the history of the world, the day on which Jesus of Nazareth died. It opens at 6 P.M.—the beginning of the Hebrew day—with Jesus and ten of the apostles coming through the pass between the Mount of Olives and the Mount of Offense en route to Jerusalem and the Last Supper. It closes at 4 P.M. the following afternoon, when Jesus was taken down from the cross. . . . The fundamental research was done a long time ago by four fine journalists: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The rest has been added in bits and pieces from many men whose names span the centuries."—from the Foreword
