The Next NOVA Rally!:

Hello Fellow NOVA Members,

We have an exciting rally for all of you to attend!  The Wagon Master of the Mohican Valley of Ohio WBCCI Unit, Don Berry and his wife, Lexie, have put together a wonderful joint rally for our two units.  We wanted to get information out to you for planning purposes, hoping that you can make time to attend this special Sternwheel Joint Rally in the beautiful city of Marietta, Ohio.

·         What:     Sternwheel Joint Rally (Mohican Valley of Ohio and NOVA Units)

·         Where:   Marietta, Ohio, with camping at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Marietta

·         When:    Thursday, September 10 (noon) through Sunday, September 13 (noon).   There is an optional Sunday noon to Monday noon for those who want to stay one more day for festivities.

STERNWHEEL JOINT RALLY INFORMATION:

Camping Location:   Washington County Fairgrounds.

The Fairgrounds has a nice camping area which Don reserved back in March.  The sites have 30 and 50 amp electric with water hookups.  There is a dump station on the fairgrounds.   Don has a 30’ x 40’ awning with tables for shade and shelter.  There will be shuttle buses that run from the fairgrounds to the waterfront, which is the hub of the festival.

Events:  Sternwheel Festival.

There are many free events at the festival, including many self-guided tours of this wonderfully, historic town of Marietta.  Materials will be provided to all rally attendees once you arrive.  The Sternwheel Festival kicks off with the Opening Ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday, September 11.  The festival promises to have 30-35 sternwheelers (sternwheelers that travel from the Mississippi to Pittsburg), 300 custom and antique cars, and additional vendors in the historic riverfront of downtown Marietta.  On Sunday, September 13, there will be an antique car show and sternwheeler races.  All of the events can be found at the Sternwheel official website:  ohioriversternwheelfestival.org.

In addition, there is a Marietta City Trolley Tour.  I happened to have taken the trolley tour and found it to be excellent.  There was a lot of information provided; I know we plan to attend again.  Cost:  $10/pp.

The Sternwheel Dinner Cruise will be on Saturday, and it includes a two-hour ride on the Valley Gem Sternwheeler.  The dinner is the captain’s buffet dinner which includes prime rib and two other meats.  There will be wonderful festival fireworks over the water after the cruise returns to port.   Cost:  $37/pp.

We hope that members of our NOVA Chapter will see this as a great opportunity to camp together in a beautiful historic city with other Airstreamers.  Thousands of visitors come to this event, and we are very lucky to have secured camping and event arrangements.

Oh, the places you'll go!

2015 promises to be a banner year for NOVA.  We will be celebrating our 5th year as an official WBCCI unit.

You are invited to look below at a partial list of events and opportunities available to NOVA members.  Dedicated volunteers have spent many hours organizing these events for you!

Some of these events are "official".  Some are informal.  Some are NOVA events, some are commercial ventures.

The common denominators between all of them is fun, fellowship, and the sense of adventure.

It is doubtful that anyone can attend all these events.  Pick a couple!  Come to the ones that interest you.  Attend when you feel comfortable.

Come for the Airstreams. Stay for the people.

Celebrate 2015.

  • News from the Share the Dream Rally Nova had a great rally at Haydocy Airstream. To see a summary you should view Ella’s blog here (http://silvermineandhis.weebly.com/streamin/the-urban-campout).  While we were there Naomi Rossman from the Columbus College of Art and Design spent Saturday with us. She was taking pictures and interviewing us. From this she has produced a video. You may view it here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CpFkyckd1I). I would like to thank all of those who attended. We have been invited back next year. Let’s work on having an even better showing.

  • Share the Dream Rally Do you remember when you first took the plunge to join in the Airstream dream?  For many, it was a long-awaited vision that took years to realize, and for others it was an unexpected event that resulted in a sudden decision to give Airstreaming a try. Either way, embracing the Airstream dream is a big step up in the RV world, not just because of the iconic silver bullet camper, but also because of the unique fellowship of joining in the fun with thousands of other Airstreamers. An Airstream not just an RV; it is a lifestyle! Now NOVA members have the chance to share the dream with others at Haydocy Airstream RV. What could be better than an ...

  • Buddy Up At Pastime Park An exciting Airstream assembly is in the making with NOVA, and we want to get the word out early for inclusion in your 2014 camping season.  The Mohican Valley of Ohio WBCCI Unit (North Central Ohio) has invited us to rally with them at Pastime Park in Plain City, OH, from June 5-8, 2014.   Several of our NOVA Silver Family visited Pastime Park in 2012 during the Dublin Irish Festival and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of this small municipal park located just 23 miles north of downtown Columbus. You can navigate to more information about Pastime Park here:   http://www.plain-city.com/parks/pastime-park   At this time plans are not finalized, but Mohican Unit is busy working ...
