The weather service predicted that a winter-type storm "almost unprecedented for September" in terms of rain, snow, and cold would hit Southern California on September 20. 

Other than occasional overcast, a little drizzle, and one 30 degrees F morning,  the storm never materialized. We enjoyed cool, breezy weather with the unmistakable feeling that autumn was approaching. It was beautiful.
