Outings 2017

Two Outings are planned for each term.  The following have been planned for Terms 2, 3 & 4 in 2017.

The following Art Gallery tours have also been arranged:

Versus Rodin: bodies across space and time, Friday 30th June

Meet Gwenyth Freeman outside the Art Gallery at 10.00 am. Buy your own ticket (see note below) and pay Gwenyth $2 for the guide fee. Limit 20 people. Over 60 modern and contemporary artists go head to head with the maverick of modern sculpture in this major new exhibition. Through a series of duets and duels, works by Auguste Rodin are brought into vivid conversation with over 200 works of art by leading artists from Australia and overseas. Part of the world-wide celebrations commemorating the centenary of the great French sculptor’s death, Versus Rodin draws on the Gallery’s own collection of Rodin bronzes, the largest in the Southern Hemisphere.

Note: As members of a Special Interest Group, you should ask for the "Group" price when buying your ticket. Group price is $16 per person. In addition, the price for anyone who has a Seniors (or other) Concession Card reduces yet again, to the "Group Concession" price of $14 per head.

Linda Jackson and Utopia, Friday, 4th August

Meet Gwenyth Freeman at the Art Gallery at 10.15 for 10.30 start.  Pay Gwenyth $2 for the guide fee.  Another tour for fashion lovers!  Linda Jackson, now in her seventies, was one of the first fashion artists to realize the potential of bold and colorful aboriginal-inspired designs for incorporation into fashion.  In 1980 she visited the Utopia region and worked with the women there.  Works from this collaboration, and also her “Romance was Born” exhibition in 1995, will be included in this talk.

Flowers, Friday, 29th September

Meet Gwenyth Freeman at the Art Gallery at 10.15 for 10.30 start.  Pay Gwenyth $2 for the guide fee.  Brighten the depths of late Winter with a look forward to Spring.  This tour will examine the long tradition of the representation of flowers and plants in art.  Join us to relax in front of - and hear all about - some beautiful images.
