Grade 8 (black patch) and grade 9 (blue patch) referees are required to recertify their license for each calendar year. If the initial license is obtained at a course after July 1st, it is current for the remainder of that year plus the entire next year. Otherwise licenses are only valid for the current calendar year (January 1 - December 31). Recertification involves attending a one day, five hour course and passing a multiple choice exam. Registration for the grade 8/9 recertification course costs $60.
As an alternative to recertifying at the grade 9 level, referees may choose to take a "bridge" course to upgrade their grade 9 blue patch to a grade 8 black patch. The bridge course requires attending a one day, eight hour course and passing a multiple choice exam.
Recertification courses are typically held in January, February, November, and December of each year. Bridge Courses are normally held in March.
CCNSC is located in Kentucky District 1 and referee courses are typically held at Thomas More College, 333 Thomas More Parkway, Crestview Hills, KY 41017 (south on Turkeyfoot Road exit off I-275). Registration for courses is through the USSF Registration system.
Online registration information: You need to enter an "R" in front of your USSF number and your password should be your last name. If you still have problems registering, please contact Tony Crush.
