Job: Childcare Coordinator for English Classes

We are seeking a volunteer to coordinate childcare volunteers, to ensure that there is sufficient provision for pre-school children of a range of ages in order to allow their parents to focus on English language classes. This is an essential service and makes a huge difference to the parents’ progress in class. The classes are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10am-12pm in Cambridge. The Coordinator can also provide some of the childcare if desired, although this is not essential.

The role involves:

  • Ensuring that there are always sufficient volunteers to look after the children while parents attend classes
  • Working closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit childcare volunteers for the language programme, and ensure they receive inductions, DBS checks, and placement reviews
  • Working closely with the teaching and teaching coordination teams

Skills required:

  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work as part of team;
  • Ability to communicate with a range of volunteers
  • Good computer skills (word, excel and doodle polls)
