4-Way Test Speech Contest


Sponsored by the Cumberland Rotary Club


Convincing Student Speakers from grades 9-12 present a 5-7 minute speech on a topic of their choice addressing an ethical problem using the principles of the Rotary philosophy, the 4-Way Test. The 4-Way Test asks “Of the things we think, say or do, is it the TRUTH, is it FAIR to all concerned, will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS, and will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

McKaig Scholarship

The LaLitta Nash McKaig Foundation offers a needs based scholarship for college students who are residents of Allegany or Garrett County, MD; Mineral or Hampshire County, WV; or Bedford or Somerset County, PA; AND have obtained a high school education or equivalency thereof in any of these counties.   Applications may be found in the file below.

SAT               ACT 

The SAT is offered seven times a year at Allegany High School. Most students take the SAT for the first time during the spring of their junior year and a second time during the fall of their senior year. The next SAT date is March 14. Registration deadline for this test is February 13. The cost is $52.50.

         What about the ACT?        

The ACT is given at ACM on February 7, April 18, and June 13.  The registration deadline for the April  test is March 13.  The test fee is $38, or $54.50 if you also take the writing portion of the test.

Covenant College Campus Preview Weekend

March 26-28, 2015 

Preview weekends are unique opportunities for participants to explore the vibrant community on Covenant’s mountaintop campus.  Students spend two nights in the residence halls with current students, sit in on classes, worship in the chapel, tour the campus, audition for music scholarships if desired, and much more.  The cost of attendance is $40.  You may register online at
