Also, the Environmental Health Committee is hosting a showing of the documentary called Blackfish. It's about the controversy over captive killer whales, particularly an orca held by SeaWorld! This event will be held in 262 Dwinelle on Thursday, March 20 from 7-9PM. Contact the committee chair Brian Kong if you have questions!

Great news! We have a new official meeting room for all our GENERAL COALITION MEETINGS: 151 Barrows. As always, these meetings (not the same as committee meetings) are every other Thursday from 7-8 PM. If you're confused about location, just keep checking back for updates on specific events or shoot us an email. :D
Be sure to come out to our third coalition meeting of the semester: our Graduate-Undergraduate Mixer, which is tomorrow night from 7-8PM in 151 Barrows! Come out to network with grad students from Cal's very own School of Public Health. 1. Check Your Boobies Night:
CalUPHC is co-hosting this event with another great organization on campus called Colleges Against Cancer THIS THURSDAY, November 7th from 7-8 PM in 123 Wheeler. In short, this event is about breast cancer prevention and awareness. There will be a breast cancer survivor to share her story, as well as a breast health instructor to teach students about risk factors, screening methods, and how to perform a breast self-exam. This is a fun and informational event that aims to help students (boys are more than welcome to attend) become more proactive about their health!
2. International Health Committee's Soles4Souls:
Watch the award-winning movie Children of Heaven to kick off a holiday season shoe drive with the International Health Committee, led by its chair Amisha Singh! Come out to socialize and enjoy the movie and free food! Either bring a pair of shoes to donate, or bring $2 to help with shipping costs. All shoes will be graded and shipped to Africa where they are most needed. Get in the spirit of giving and make a difference! Soles4Souls is a global not-for-profit institution dedicated to fighting the devastating impact and perpetuation of poverty. The organization collects new and used shoes and clothes and then distributes them to those in need. (http://soles4souls.org/)
3. Faculty Mixer:
CalUPHC is pleased to announce its biggest event of the Fall semester, which will take place NEXT THURSDAY, November 14th from 7-8:30 PM at Anna Head Alumnae Hall. This is a wonderful opportunity to network with some of Cal's esteemed faculty of Public Health and related fields! Food and refreshments will be provided, and dress code is business casual! Paid club members are guaranteed admission and get in for free. If you are not a paid member, you can still turn in your membership dues, or simply hand $5 to one of our board members to buy an event ticket! Also, if you're interested in attending, please RSVP here! The deadline to RSVP and buy a ticket is MONDAY, November 11th.
