Now this is a plate of food! Holy beyond deliciousness, Batman! So, I got another night off cooking cuz the hubby had an early night. Thankfully I'd already done my workout for the night cuz there certainly wouldn't have been a run or skate after this meal. We went to this place called Lillie Mae's House of Soul Food in Santa Clara. Awhile back we went to a place called Bluz By You, and when we pulled in there, I saw Lillie Mae's in the same parking lot and made a mental note. Well, I doubt I'd head back to Bluz, but it's gonna take a lot if willpower to not destroy all of my hard work in losing weight by heading back here on a weekly basis. I got the Combo 5, which is BBQ pork ribs, BBQ beef brisket and cornbread, plus two sides, and I selected sweet potato fries and corn. This meal was decadently good. The ribs had a ton of meat, were cooked to easy clean bite off the bone, just shy of totally falling off, and had the perfect level of smoky flavor. Not so smoky it's the inky flavor you get, but just enough to compliment the flavor of the meat. The sauce was similar in how it how complimented the meat. It was rich, caramely, slightly sweet with a small but of spice and they weren't oversauced at all. Again, the meat itself was what you tasted, with the perfect sauce compliment. You can't really see it in the pic, but those ribs are sitting on the mound o'brisket. Very much the same description on the brisket, minus the bone part. Tender, slightly smoky, not oversauced. A little bit of BBQ heaven in the South Bay Area. The cornbread was clearly home made, but not the best I've ever had. It was moist and slightly dense, a bit of a crumble but not so much it totally falls apart. Would have been better if it were hot, I think. The corn was corn. Cooked well and tasty. And the sweet potatoes fries were well seasoned and delicious. A teeny bit soft, but not to a point of serious fault, and the flavor still made them beyond munchable. Now, y'all have seen some of the food I've put down, this meal filled me up. Not overstuffed to a point of being too full, but filled right up to that point, perfectly. And this entire array of food was $1 less than my entree last night. Yeah, now this was amazing value for the money. We will most, most definitely be back to Lillie Mae's House of Soul Food, not for awhile, mind you, due to the calorie hit (though it's worth every one of 'em), but we will definitely be back. Fri-Sun they serve chicken and waffles (which the hubby got), but I already plan on trying the BBQ chicken and BBQ beef brisket combo with the mac and cheese next time. :D

Day 53..... I have been doing some hard-core exercising the last few days and my body doesn't seem to be handling it too well. At work today, my back was bothering me as it was, and by the end of the day, I couldn't take sitting anymore....then tonight I went for a 45 minute walk with my mom (not too bad, but our town is all hills) and when we got back, a half hour later I did my Wii workout. I am pretty much aching and sore and hurting everywhere...My knee that hurts sometimes when I do physical kind of things is also killing me right now and is like tingling.I took pain pills in hopes I will be able to sleep tonight. My hands seem to be like the only thing on me right now not hurting. This all better be worth it in the end and I hope I see better results in my attempts to lose weight this year. I could have seen Jesse tonight, but I didn't want to drive the 45 minutes to the house since I'm at my parents during the week. He stopped home to get a shower and take a few hours off. I was that tired and in that much pain, I just couldn't bare the car ride tonight. He wasn't upset but I would have loved to spend time with him. He seems to just make everything better now matter how much pain I am in. I did some editing to this....the camera lense was kinda dirty and I didn't notice it so that's why it's not very clear on the bottle...I do like the exposure color scheme and some of the other details I added.
