How To Avoid Holiday Weight Gain
Trying to lose (or just keep off) weight during the holiday season can be tough. Not only does the entire season seem to revolve around food, it does so around extremely high calorie, high fat, and sugary food.

Add in alcoholic beverages, lots of candy, cakes, pies, cookies, and eggnog, and you can be almost assured of gaining 5 pounds or more by the time the New Year rolls around.

Whether you intend to keep losing weight, or just avoid gaining weight this holiday season, this guide provides excellent tips for eating less, cutting calories, and reducing stress during the holidays. You’ll learn how to make healthy substitutions, how to keep a positive attitude so stress doesn’t take over your mind (and store fat on your body), and tons of great strategies for reducing calories and keeping your appetite under control.

Jan. 2, 2009 218.5 lbs 148.5 lbs lost Happy New Year! January 1, 2008 I weighed 367 lbs. One year and one day later and I am 148.5 lbs lighter! Who'd have thunk it?!?! All in all, I can't complain. Okay, I could... My skin isn't exactly where I'd like it to be, replacing your wardrobe (a couple times) is expensive, I'm still dealing with a stress fracture. But in the grand scheme of things, those are problems I'll gladly take on. A year ago, my goal (a fairly ambitious one, I thought) was to get under 300 lbs. Not quite 70 lbs in one year. Thats a noble goal. Instead I managed to lose that amount and then did it again. Craziness. So, what to do for a follow up? I'm still working on losing weight (as you can see, there is still some flab to shed) but I'm planning to shift gears a bit. Start increasing my calorie intake back up a little and see what happens. I think I'm going to work a bit more on building muscle. Shit from weight loss to weight maintenance and getting ripped. Okay, ripped isn't likely to happen but more muscular. Maybe someday "toned" is a word that will be applicable. Anyway, so it was a good year. Other aspects of the year sucked but 2008 will be remembered fondly I suspect. To everyone who has offered encouragement along the way, Thank you. To anyone who thinks they can't lose weight, I used to be one of you. Count calories, burn calories, lose weight. Its that simple. No tricks, no short cuts, no secrets, no magic pills, no surgery needed. Sweat and eating responsibility. SIMPLE.
