Lake Keepers Camp

Each summer since 2006, typically the 1st week in August, CALL offers a week-long “Lake Keepers Camp” for area youth who have completed the 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade. The children learn about our lakes and watershed ecology. The camp is free and runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day, Monday through Friday. Sign up begins in early May.
The program is led by volunteers from CALL, staff from DEP, and other educators.

Many interesting topics are covered at camp, but in a fun way, with games an
d activities the children will enjoy. As examples, students learn how a watershed is created and how to keep our lakes clean by preventing non-point source pollution. They also experience the “Hooked on Fishing” program and enjoy an informative boat trip on the last day of camp. To date, the program has served approximately 100 area youth, some of whom have attended more than once.

The 2017 Lake Keepers Camp will be offered from July 31 - August 4.

The application for camp will be available at the Liberty Town Office or you may download a copy below. Applications must be completed and signed by the parent or guardian to be eligible. Return the application to the Liberty Town Office or email it to the address provided on the form.

Junior Counselor applications are also available below. Junior Counselors assist the regular staff at Lake Keepers Camp and oversee the activities of a small group of 4-6 younger students. Students desiring to be junior counselors must have previously attended the camp for at least two years and must have completed 6th grade or higher. Please see the form for more information.
