California Native Plant Gardening

California has a rich natural flora, of which many species have been

cultivated for horticultural use for centuries. Recently, concerns

about climate change and water scarcity have whetted new interest

in using drought tolerant native plants, in both home and commercial

landscaping. Those who have been passionate about California

natives for many years are being joined by new gardeners, some with

considerable experience caring for more conventional plant species, and

some who are complete novices to horticulture. This website is

intended to provide information and inspiration to all three types of

California native plant gardeners, as well as anyone who is curious

about the native plant movement.
