The Annual Orange Chapter's Irvine Lake Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts Fishing Day Seminar's was held on March 23 - 24, 2012.
There were well over 200 Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts who attended the Seminars on a pretty spring day on the east side of Irvine Lake called Santiago Creek Flats camp ground. Almost all the Scouts and Cub Scouts spent the night in the area. There was a cracker barrel campfire snack provided by the Orange Chapter along with donated wood to burn at the camp site in which the participants were explained the instructions on the next mornings seminars and fishing.
The next morning all participants were instructed to sit and listen through six seminar stations in which they learn by instruction of Orange Chapter members and Irvine Lake Pro Fishing Staff members about such items as the diversity of wildlife around the lake, the biological diversity of fish species thriving in the lake, fishing techniques, knot tying and angling etiquette.
After the seminars they were allowed to catch their limit of trout along the east shore of the lake. Some of the trout was stocked and provided by the Orange Chapter. Also many of the Cub Scouts were provided to catch their first trout in the catch pond near the entrance to the lake if they were willing to make a two mile hike there. This was provided by the Irvine Lake Pro Fishing Staff who attended, volunteered their time and always help in many ways every year to make this annual event great.
After the fishing a Hot Dog lunch was cooked and provided by the Orange Chapter Members.
Look for this event on this web-site for next March 2013.A special thanks to all Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, parents who participated and those who volunteered their time to make this another successful year for the IWLA Orange Chapter Annual Fishing Day Seminars at Irvine Lake.
