Fullerton Chapter

Welcome to the Fullerton Chapter,

The Fullerton Chapter has had its location at the historical Hillcrest Park at 1280 North Harbor Boulevard in Fullerton California 92832 since 1931. The Fullerton Izaak Walton's original cabin was destroyed by fire in the early nineties and was rebuilt at twice the size (8,000 square feet) a few years after that by its membership and with help from the City of Fullerton. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month starting at 7:30 p.m. All guests are welcome.

For information please contact: Gene and Cheryl Thorpe (714) 680-4258 or KB6CMO@juno.com

Registration is now being taken for the Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department’s 6th Annual “Kid’s Fishing Derby” set for Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Laguna Lake Park.

The fun will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the event is free to children and their families.

Laguna Lake Park is located at 3120 Lakeview Drive, just east of Euclid Street.

Amanda Fernandez of the Parks and Recreation Department’s popular “Get Outdoors” program, said the derby will offer a variety of fun activities for children, including fishing “learning stations” sponsored by the state Department of Fish and Game (DFG).

In addition, children will get to test their skills with a rod and reel in casting contests. The DFG will make fishing gear available for use for the day to children who go through the learning stations.

Lunch will be provided for all participants.

While the derby is free, pre-registration is required and may be made by calling the Parks and Recreation Department at (714) 738-6575 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (714) 738-6575 end_of_the_skype_highlighting. Registration may also be made by coming to the department, which is located in the basement of Fullerton City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave.

Free commemorative fishing derby T-shirts will be given to the first 400 kids to pre-register for the event. A variety of prizes will be awarded, including a barbecue and a Husky tools set donated by Home Depot, as well as passes for a half-day of ocean fishing courtesy of Davey’s Locker in Balboa.

Fernandez noted that volunteers are also needed to help assist the children the day of the event. Persons willing to help out are asked to call her at (714) 738-6594 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (714) 738-6594 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.
