Practice Information & Fees

Practice Groups and Times

  • Practices are held at the College of Idaho Activities Center Pool2112 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell, ID on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm from September through May.
  • Summer practices are at the Caldwell Municipal Pool in Memorial Park, 502 Harrison Street, Caldwell, ID.  These go from the week after memorial day through the second week in August.  We take a 2 week break the second half of August.
  • All swimmers are required to have a current USA Swimming membership in order to swim with our team. Seasonal memberships are available for swimmers that only participate in the summer program. Trial swimmers are required to complete this process within thirty (30) days of the beginning of their two week trial period in order to swim continuously when joining the team.  A copy of your child's birth certificate is required by USA Swimming as part of the initial registration.

Fall to Spring:
Practices are in a short course pool and begin in September of each year.  The practice schedule will be as follows:
    • Copper: Our entry level group, for ages 6-8, is a pre-competitive level and is an introduction to strokes and distances.  Swimmers should be able to swim 25 yards with minimal assistance - swimmers will be on outside lane so stopping is possible and support is available.  Even at this level, practices are fairly personalized to the individual child's level.  These practices are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays for the first hour from 6:30-7:30pm.
    • Bronze:  This is the beginner level of competitive swimming for swimmers 6 years old and above. Swimmers are expected to participate in a minimum of one home swim meet a year.  The focus of this group is to refine freestyle, introduce backstroke, racing starts, flip turns, and the basics of butterfly and breaststroke.  Swimmers are expected to practice 3 days per week for the first hour of practice 6:30-7:30pm.  We recommend they come Tuesday and Thursday but they are welcome any night.
    • Silver:  The intermediate competitive level group in which swimmers are expected to participate in our home meets and up to two away meets per year. In addition to meeting the bronze eligibility requirements, swimmers should be able to swim a 100 IM legally, perform one flip turn, start from the block, and streamline from the wall. The focus at this level is to further develop the four competitive strokes and the IM.  There is also a greater focus on distance swimming. Swimmers are expected to practice 3 to 4 days per week for 90 minutes - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6:30-8pm.
    • Gold:  This practice group requires a deep commitment and 100% effort at each practice offered. Swimmers at this level are self-motivated, dedicated, attending home and away meets at the invitational level, and able to meet the SRS qualifying time standards. They are learning to develop racing strategies, continuing to focus on proper stroke technique, turns and starts, and accepting responsibility for their swimming. Swimmers are expected to practice 4 days per week for the full 90 minute (or up to 2 hour) practice (M, T, Th, F 6:30-8pm).

Summer practices are in a long course pool and begin the first Monday after the city pool opens (actual date may vary).  Summer practices are held daily at 7am for 90 minutes and M/W/F at noon for 1 hour.  We take a 2 week break the second half of August before returning to the indoor pool.

  • Monthly dues are $35 for copper and $55 for all other practice groups.  We take minimal breaks during the year, except for the last 2 weeks in August and dues are prorated for that month.
  • Annually in September, or upon joining, there is a registration fee of $25 per swimmer or $35 per family.  Depending on when a family joins during the year, this fee may be prorated.
  • All swimmers must be members of USA Swimming - for 2018, this is $70 for the Premium membership (formerly known as the annual membership).  This is an annual fee, but for new members starting after September, it covers 15 months from 9/1 to 12/31 of the following year.  These dues go directly to Snake River Swimming, our Regional USA Swimming chapter (LSC).  Starting this Fall, there is a new USA swimming membership level called "Flex" - this is $20 per year and allows a max of 2 swim meets each year.  Swimmers may "upgrade" to a Premium membership after their second meet if they decide to continue competing.
  • We offer outreach memberships for swimmers who meet specific financial qualifications.  Please email for more information about this.
  • Costs to participate in meets are in addition to the club dues.  Meet fees range from $20-$40 depending on the number of events and length of the meet.  We generally participate in one meet each month during the indoor season.

We work hard to keep our fees low - they are among the lowest in the valley for any sport with similar practice offerings.  In order to keep our fees low, we need everyone's help hosting meets and conducting fundraisers throughout the year.
