John's Letters

Michael's father, John Calderbank, was a radio officer on merchant ships for some 13 years in total. During this time he wrote home to his sisters on the family farm in Lancashire. These letters have survived and Michael has transcribed the first batch of them onto the computer. They were written during the period 1929 - 1937 and provide a fascinating insight into life in the Merchant Navy during that period. Michael is currently engaged in transcribing the second batch of letters written during World War II. An autographed copy of his first book can be ordered directly from Michael by sending a cheque for £10 (payable to M. Calderbank) to 2 Morlands, East Hanney, Wantage, Oxon, OX120JW. Alternatively it can be obtained from the website www.lulu.com/uk.
