About US

CALA - Chinese American Librarians Association was founded in 1973.  An affiliate of American Library Association (ALA), CALA has seven chapters and members throughout the United States, as well as in Canada, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and other countries and regions.  Promoting collaboration among librarians across national borders and facilitating exchange between U.S. and China are among the major goals of CALA.  Its highly successful CALA 21st Century Librarian Seminar Series has actively engaged collaboration and exchange between libraries and librarians in China and U.S.  CALA is also an active participant in the Think Globally Act Globally U.S. - China librarian collaboration project.

CALA Northeast Chapter serves members from eight states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.  CALA/NE is full of talents.  Over the years,  many successful programs have been developed that helped strengthen the friendship among its members and promote our goals.  Become a CALA member and get involved. Help make CALA an even greater organization.
