Pirate Ship Pan


Any little pirate would be thrilled to have his own pirate ship for his birthday!


 
 On the High Seas

Materials:
1. cake - this pan takes one box mix or one two-layer cake
2. a batch of frosting - about 3 cups
3. blue food coloring/dye
4. purple food coloring/dye
5. yellow food coloring/dye
6. brown food coloring/dye
7. black food coloring/dye
8. toothpicks
9. a spatula/knife
10. tip #1
11. tip #47
12. tin foil

Time:

To bake - about 35 minutes but check the recipe
To decorate - about an hour and a half
Total - about 2 and a half hours
 
Decorate:
1. Bake and cool cake
2. Prepare cake surface by covering it in tin foil
3. Prepare frosting - all thin consistency
4. Dye a cup and a half of frosting light blue
5. Dye a cup of frosting light brown
6. Dye a small amount of frosting yellow
7. Dye a small amount of frosting dark brown
8. Dye a small amount of frosting purple
9. Leave a small amount of frosting white
10. Frost the sky behind the ship with light blue frosting
11. Frost the hull of the ship with light brown frosting
12. Using tip #47 (flat side up) and the dark brown frosting to outline the top of the hull and the mast
13. Using tip #47 (flat side up) and the yellow frosting, outline the booms and the birds nest
14. Using tip #1 and the brown frosting to fill in the spaces of the birds nest
15. Frost the sails of the ship with white frosting
16. With white frosting and tip #1, outline the skull and crossbones on both flags
17. Frost the rest of the flags with purple frosting - for the difficult or tiny spaces use tip#1
18. Use tip #1 and dark brown frosting to outline the portholes on the side of the hull
19. Use tip #1 and black frosting to fill in the portholes on the side of the hull
 
Note: This cake has many intricate and tiny spaces that need to be frosted. If you can't get all the spaces on the first try, I would recommend frosting the areas around the spot and then returning to the spot that is giving you difficulty. You might fine that by frosting the areas around it, it might be easier to frost than originally. 
 
 
 
 
 
An Explosion of a Cake!
 
Materials
1. cake - this cake pan takes one box mix or one two-layer cake
2. a batch of frosting - about 3 cups
3. brown food coloring/dye
4. green food coloring/dye
5. red food coloring/dye
6. black food coloring/dye
7. a spatula/knife
8. tip #16
9. tip #5
10. toothpicks
11. tin foil
12. paper
13. red and black colored pencils or markers
14. tape
15. scissors
 
Time:
To bake - about 35 minutes but check the recipe
To decorate - about an hour
Total - about 2 hours
 
Decorate:
1. Bake and cool cake
2. Prepare cake surface by covering it in tin foil
3. Prepare frosting - all thin consistency
4. Dye about 1 and 1/2 cups light green
5. Dye about 1 cup brown
6. Dye about 1/4 cup red
7. Dye about 1/4 cup dark green
8. Dye a small amount grey (use the black food coloring/dye)
9. Frost the volcano of the cake with the brown frosting
10. Frost the base of the volcano with the light green frosting
11. With the red frosting, make lava coming out of the volcano
12. Use tip #5 to write your desired message on the base of the volcano in dark green frosting
13. Use tip #16 to add patches of grass along the base of the cake and the base of the volcano
14. Use tip #5 and the grey frosting to add rocks to the base of the volcano
15. On a sheet of paper, make an explosion sign using red and black colored pencils
16. Attach the paper to the cake with toothpicks. Tape the toothpicks to the back of the sign and then insert the toothpicks into the cake.
