Trail Conditions and Closures

Corvallis to the Sea Trail

This page will be updated with trail conditions, deer and elk rifle-hunting season date alerts, and closure information.

TRAIL CONDITIONS: The trail is now open and signed from Big Elk Campground to Philomath. Remember that you need a Starker Forests permit to pass over the Old Peak Road section between the gate 4 miles up Old Peak Road and the gate at mile post 6 on Woods Creek Road. We plan on having maps available online and in local stores by the end of May.

WARNING: There may be logging activity along the route, so proceed with caution.
Two sites of known recent activity are just above the lower gate on Old Peak Road and at the top of Shot Pouch Trail Rd about a mile west of the Benton-Lincoln County line.
About two miles below the gate at the 4-way at the top of Shot Pouch Trail Road there are a few logs across the trail. The larger ones are being left for harvest this summer. We hope to have the others cleared by mid-June.

If you go out during big game hunting seasons, especially the deer and elk seasons, always be alert for hunters, wear appropriate colors, e.g. fluorescent orange, and avoid browns or other dark colors, especially with white.

September is bow hunting season and October and November has rifle seasons for both deer and elk.
