"Bytown Good Samers" is an official chapter of the International Good Sam Club. We are the longest running chapter in Ontario and on September 11, 2013 we celebrate our 40th anniversary. We have approximately 80 active members as well as several honorary members in our group and welcome anyone to come out and find out who we are. Our chapter was started by people from the Ottawa area but is not limited to the immediate vicinity. We have three planned camp outs per year as well as a Spring and Fall dinner meeting and a Christmas party.
Our camp outs are pretty informal consisting of meals together, various games, crafts and an exchange of information and ideas. During the Spring camp out we pick up litter along our stretch of "Adopted Highway."
Our favorite charity is "The Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario".(CHEO) Some of our members have volunteered to answer the phones during hospital fund raising drives. We have a woman in our group that has a passion for making quilts from reclaimed jeans. She has inspired the group to get involved and help her. These quilts are given to the children in CHEO to help provide comfort for kids that are going through a frightening time in their young lives. See our "Jean Quilts " page for pictures and more details.
