Debi and I have five accounts with Bank of America, where we do all our banking, savings and online bill payments.
On Monday 6-April-2009 I walked in to your San Rafael, CA (Smith Ranch rd) branch to request a little mercy on the Insufficient Funds fees you have slapped on us recently. You hit us with $1,530.00 in NSF charges since 1-March. Unfortunately there was no good will, no mercy, no sign of human life at B of A today. You explained that I am a loser and that it's all my fault, and that the mighty B of A is not responsible.
I've been a B of A customer since 1993. I've put nearly $3 Million through BofA. I've always been a profitable entity - fiscally responsible, accountable, transparent. You, on the other hand, have never stopped stealing money from my account. Then, you accepted $25 Bn of taxpayer bailouts from imprudent ventures into credit default swaps and other subprime brilliance. The same week, you closed down a profitable window company in Chicago by closing their payroll credit line.
What to do?
Well, so long, B of A. We've decided we deserve a better bank. Debi and I have withdrawn all positive balances, and won't deposit another cent into any B of A account, ever.
We won't close the accounts or stop direct debits. As the accounts go more negative, your computers will generate nasty letters, which we'll ignore. Your lawyers will write nastier letters threatening terrible things until we make good. We won't. We will be with a local bank, in the hope that taxpayers are done bailing out dinosaurs.
