Blackwater Valley Runners
BVR would like to be described as a social running club. We have about 120 members, made up of roughly equal numbers of male runners and female runners, of all standards of running. The main club night is Wednesday. We meet at 6.55pm for a quick chat, some dynamic stretches to warm up, then at 7.15pm we split into 5 or 6 different ability groups, all with group leaders, to run for as little as 4 miles or for the more serious runners up to 10 miles. In Winter we use loads of well lit routes, and do hill training, reps, fartlek etc. In Summer we often venture off road. Occasionally we organise activities such as handicap races and awaydays; please check the events diary or facebook page for details.
The clubhouse has great facilities - 4 changing rooms with showers. After the run some members then retire to the club bar for refreshment, as some say that beer is good for building up the carbohydrates again.
There are also Tuesday sessions for speed work and hill training.
Sunday morning runs are based around the Blackwater Valley countryside and are always more relaxed. We jog to local beauty spots, and generally go for longer slower runs than on Wednesday nights. Some of our members run 5K, 10k races, half marathons, and marathons, but others simply enjoy a nice run or jog in the countryside of Surrey and Hampshire to keep themselves fit and relieve daily stress.
Membership Form for 2014/15
You can view/print a membership form here, or used the down-arrow at the bottom right of this page to download one, or pick one up at the club on a Wednesday night.  The cost of a full year's membership (1st April to 31st March) is currently £50, but this reduces by around £1 per week as the year progresses so best to ask on a Wednesday night what the amount will be, then fill a cheque out.  Or email BVR Secretary to find out.
