Thank you all so much for helping

with the daffodil planting project this week!  The only thing left to do is wait until Spring!
We had 25 people help on the project to plant 1,000 daffodils on the back 9 at Dogwood.  Next spring we will be able to enjoy
our 2nd year of color on the front 9 and our new daffs on the back 9.

Thanks to:
  • Scott Hanson and Paul Gomez and their staff for guidance and assistance.
  • Steve Vetter and Tony LiCausi for scouting the locations, plus marking and weed whacking the areas.
  • Dale Dyer for the use of his trailer.
  • John Nuttall and Tommy Tipton for pre-tilling 19 planting areas.
  • Garden Club Members for Planting: Pat Meyer, Kathy Woxland, Janice Grim and Deidre Cheney
  • FOD&B Members for planting: Bill Davis, Dale Dyer, Danni Sandidge, John & Jan Franklin, Julia Doverspike, Kevin McGee, Linda Lloyd, Penny Mosely, Steve Vetter, Susan Nuttall, Tony Licausi
  • All of the folks who sponsor & play in our tournament to raise the money for projects such as this.

Key Success Factors:
  • Suitable locations for planting
  • Preparing the areas in advance
  • Renting the tiller
  • Dividing into teams
  • People willing to come out in cold weather.
  • 3 new members of FOD&B: Julia Doverspike, Penny Mosely, Linda Lloyd
Upcoming Activities:

Fall - Planting remaining daffs on Brittany, FOD&B signing,
Spring - Spring Pruning & Cleaning of Beds, updating planting bed in parking lot, Relocating Redbuds & Crepe Myrtles, refresh bark chips in Hitting nets, refresh Monument Signs (grey signs on each hole)

Above - Visitors and Garden Club Members of the NW District enjoyed the flower show

"The flower show and the district meeting were great successes.  Linda Neymeyer and her crew spent hours and hours in preparation, pleading, setting up and tearing down a fabulous flower show. The entries were beautiful and many comments from those visiting supporting the outstanding entries. The district meeting was one of the best I have attended. It started and ended on time with an agenda that was managed efficiently.  Geri Hoerner did such an outstanding job that she has been asked to help plan an upcoming state meeting. THANK YOU TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE SUCCESS OF THESE EVENTS!"

Judy Jeffery, BVGC President

"The result of all the time and devotion that so many of you contributed was a flower show that we can be very proud of.  After many months of effort by the committee chairs and so many others who helped and prepared for each of the areas required to put on a large flower show, in a matter of hours the reception hall and auditorium at the Shewmaker Center were transformed into showrooms of colorful, educational exhibits that caused people to stop and say 'WOW!'.

I know many of you made several trips to the college to contribute your help and items, especially those who left late on Monday and again on Tuesday afternoon sore and exhausted. Thank you so much for all your time and hard work! I hope you were rewarded by the very enthusiastic reception from our visitors on Tuesday, as well as sincere praise by the Accredited Flower Show judges, who have viewed many flower shows, and from Mayor Christie, who commented that it would be more appropriately called an 'art show'.  I saw some college students return to view the exhibits more than once and many visitors taking photos. Members from other clubs who attended the NW District Meeting were excited to enjoy the addition of the flower show and for some we provided their first flower show experience.

The judging panel appointed by AFGC Flower Show Chair has determined that the show received a score exceeding 95% using the Scale of Points required to apply for the NGC Flower Show Achievement Award. My applause and appreciation to all who contributed so much to make "Ozark Autumn Memories" such a success!"

Linda Neymeyer, Chairman Flower Show Committee

Outstanding examples of house and garden plants that thrive in Northwest Arkansas, colorful floral designs, autumn-themed decorated tables, nature and garden photography, and educational exhibits on native plants and space-efficient gardening were featured.

Members of The Bella Vista Garden Club, Floralia Arrangers Guild, the Garden Club of Rogers, the Conway Evening Garden Club, Benton County Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists and the Bentonville/Bella Vista Photography Club also supported the large show.
