Restore Instrumental Music Position

ACTION ALERT - - - RESTORE INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC POSITIONS!

Help restore reasonable class size to Elementary Instrumental Music. For the 7th year in a row, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) is increasing class size for elementary instrumental music. Here’s how MCPS compares to neighboring counties:

Montgomery County currently has 360 students per full-time teacher and could be higher next year!

Urge the Board of Education and the Superintendent to take a small part of this year’s unexpected $29 million surplus and increase elementary instrumental music staffing.

  • Give 4th and 5th graders a fair chance in instrumental music.
  • Weak elementary programs hurt Middle and High School bands and orchestras.
  • Strong music programs help communities thrive and improve each student’s future success

Our kids in Montgomery County are getting an inferior start in instrumental music. Something can and should be done NOW.
