Tribute to our out-going Principal

Burtonsville ES PTA gave a memorable tribute to the out-going Principal, Melissa F. Smith at Banneker MS Auditorium on Saturday, June 11, 2011. Among the distinguished guests who attended the event were Montgomery County Executive, Isiah Leggett & Maryland State Delegate (District 14) Craig Zucker, who presented Ms. Smith with the Governor's Citation and Proclamation in recognition of her accomplishments and contributions to Burtonsville community.

The evening was filled with emotions. As the Burtonsville ES Choir sang "I believe I can fly", a number of former BES students from Middle School, High School and College walked across the stage to hug their Principal ... the same way as she has hugged them and all Burtonsville ES students every morning for the past 12 years.
