BURLINGTON ASSET MAP

helping match community needs with local yields

Spearheaded by local farmer John Maeck and a dedicated group of local citizens, we've begun a collective process of mapping our community assets.

Asset mapping is a process of chronicling our community resources, financial systems and incentives and exploring their relationship with people, living systems and natural resources.  Effectively, we'll be working to collectively map the 'financial ecosystem' in which we participate.  This important assessment process is intended to help us to better understand existing resources and how we might get much more for less if we approach change with a new concern for both people, natural resources and both public and private financial resources. In short, we want to understand the assets in our place and what is the state of our economic health so that we can create lasting change.

To better enable community input and participation in this process, we've set up an open source Google Doc that is openly available for any and all to modify and add information.
