Saturday, September 23, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. When other communication methods fail, amateur radio operators (Hams) can connect to the outside world. You can become certified as a Ham radio operator in one day through the Bay Area Educational Amateur Radio Society (BAEARS). Local Hams can help you find inexpensive equipment. The next class will be taught in Redwood City. You must pre-register at www.baears.com; click on "Upcoming Sessions" at the top. The cost is $35. Classes fill quickly.
