Retiree Healthcare - OPEB (Other Post-Employment Benefits)
Providing health insurance to municipal retirees is projected to result in a $46 billion unfunded liability over the next 30 years.  In order to determine how to address this liability, the Special Commission to Study Retiree Healthcare and Other NonPension Benefits was created.  The Committee published its findings in what is commonly referred to as the OPEB (Other Post-Employment Benefits) Report and these were used as the basis for House Bill 59: An Act Providing Retiree Healthcare Benefits Reform. A breakdown of the provisions of this bill can be found here.

The Government Pension Offset / Windfall Elimination Provision impacts you and your spouse if you have ever held a job where you paid Social Security.  Learn more about this impact here and be sure to speak out!
