OX.WOO.XTX Ditchley Turn Tollhouse,
Former supposed Road Toll House (now judged not
a tollhouse) at Ditchley Gate, now Toll House, Ditchley Gate, WOOTTON (WEST
OXFORDSHIRE District). The principal structure is thought to have been built for
the Charlbury Roads Turnpike Trust in the 19th century in the form of a lodge
cottage with protruding front. Currently domestic property in which the original
tollhouse is obscured by later building on the B4437, Charlbury to Wootton road.
External features; single-storey on L - shaped floor plan, having a gabled,
gable over bay, roof, with walls mainly of squared stone, roofed in slate,
square headed windows with modern glazing, a blocked front with a masonry
replacement to the doorway; stone bungalow at junction. The present building has
a date stone from 1890s. On site of TG marked on 1879 OS map so maybe a new

GL.ALV01 Tollhouse Rudgeway, Alveston
Former Road Toll House at Rudgeway Gate, now
The Bungalow, Church Road, ALVESTON (SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE District). The
principal structure is thought to have been built for the Sodbury Division
Turnpike Trust in the 19th century in the form of a vernacular cottage.
Currently domestic property with substantial changes to the original tollhouse
structure on the UC (off B4427), Iron Acton to Rudgeway road. External features;
single-storey on rectangular floor plan, having a double gable roof, with walls
mainly of render, roofed in plain tile, square headed windows with modern
glazing, no porch with a square headed doorway; modern bungalow obscures old
structure. Almost totally reconstructed outer walls and additions so
unrecognisable as a tollhouse but records suggest the building was here. Not
