weird usps problem

I received a rectangular, pink letter in the mail today, titled:

MISDELIVERY ALERT

*** CHECK DPS MAIL BEFORE DELIVERING ***

NAME(S) GOOD AT ADDRESS:

(blank -- nothing here)

ADDRESS: (an address near my home)

GOOD FORWARDS:                     COMMENTS:

(someones name)                       Fwd (Ind)

After a bit of investigation (calling the postal service), it turns out this was misdelivered to my address (ironic isn't it) -- it was intended to notify the carrier that the address mentioned was a valid delivery address for the person listed.  Anyway, if you receive one of these for someone elses address, just leave it out for the mail carrier.

(it actually said CHECK DPS MAIL BEFORE DELIVERYING -- but I didn't notice the misspelling before, and thought I'd include it here in case someone else does a search for this -- which is what I first did, couldn't find an answer to my question, so I posted thisi in the hopes of helping someone else out)
