Thanks to the support of Augusta Recreation Director, Bruce Chase and his staff and a team of interested local artist teachers, we are available to provide for you a beautiful art studio and decades of collective art teaching and personal art making experience. It is our belief that making time for creativity enriches our lives, builds self confidence and esteem, encourages personal growth, and provides opportunities for collaboration. Our capitol city Buker Community Center and Augusta Recreation Studio Arts Program offers to our Augusta and surrounding area citizens of all ages, abilities, and means the opportunity to delve into the visual art/s of choice, to develop and/or refine art-making skills, and enrich lives by making time for creativity. It is our firm believe that all people can learn the skills of art making and can develop creatively, regardless of talent. With quality arts instruction, supportive encouragement and a learning attitude, willing students will grow. At Buker Studio Arts, we have an open-door policy- interested students may visit and learn more about our staff and offerings. We aim to teach to the interests of each student and craft activities that guide students towards their personal goals. BSA, supported by Augusta Recreation's director and staff, is a public program that seeks to supplement public and local schools, homeschooling and other local programming and offers students extra-curricular study, art exhibition opportunities, and a safe, enjoyable and productive learning/creating environment. The hope is that the process, production and exhibition of art making and art in our community and partnership with the Downtown Alliance and other partners will enrich the community at large, add to the culture of downtown Augusta and Augusta area at large. We believe that communities who support and embrace cultural artistic expressions prosper and lure visitors to enjoy the arts, activities, events and people- the outcome of a creative economy.
