Topic: Powering Development with Powershell

As a developer you've likely heard of PowerShell. You likely think of it as a tool for administrators or DBAs, not for development. If so, you are missing out on a lot. PowerShell has a many uses for the developer. In this session we'll start with a quick overview of PowerShell. Then we'll look at examples of the many ways in which PowerShell can assist with development tasks. Some examples include:

-- Working with project files.

-- Manipulating XML

-- Reading and writing JSON

-- Combining PowerShell with C#

-- Interfacing with Websites

-- And more!

So don't miss out, see how much PowerShell can help with your day to day development activities.

Robert C. Cain (http://arcanecode.com) is a Microsoft MVP in SQL Server, MCTS Certified in BI, and works as a Senior Solutions Architect for Pragmatic Works. He is also a technical contributor to Plurasight Training, and co-author of 4 books. A popular speaker, Robert has presented at events such as the SQL PASS Summit, TechEd, CodeStock, and numerous SQL Saturdays. Robert has over 25 years’ experience in the IT industry, working in a variety of fields ranging from manufacturing to telecommunications to nuclear power.


How to Get There:

We will be meeting in room 311 of Russell Hall.  Russell Hall is building 41.  Please see the map linked to below.  Parking is available right outside the building and is shown on the map as the crosshaired and white box next to building 41.  All the doors to Russell Hall will be open and accessible.  Take the elevator up to the third floor.
