Book Clubs

It’s never too late to join any of our book clubs!

Join our current book club; we are reading Finding God in the Waves.

A story about having faith, losing it, and finding it again through science— revealing how the latest in neuroscience, physics, and biology help us understand God, faith, and ourselves.  Mike McHargue, host of The Liturgists and Ask Science Mike podcasts, understands the pain of unraveling belief.

In Finding God in the Waves, Mike tells the story of how his Evangelical faith dissolved into atheism as he studied the Bible, a crisis that threatened his identity, his friendships, and even his marriage.

Years later, Mike was standing on the shores of the Pacific Ocean when a bewildering, seemingly mystical moment motivated him to take another look. But this time, it wasn't theology or scripture that led him back to God—it was science.

Come join us on Tues nights at Culvers on University starting on March 5th at 6PM

DATE - TIME - LOCATION:

  • Started March 5th at 6pm, we are meeting at Culver’s on University.

If you would like to join us please contact Pastor Todd so he can get you a book

Look forward to seeing you! Pastor Todd

YEAR OF STEWARDSHIP

Our Theme for 2019 is “Year of Stewardship.”

  • During the months of January—March we are focusing on being good Stewards of the Gift of Time.

What better way to spend your day then using some of your time with our heavenly Father in prayer and Word.

Be sure to take the Devotion on Time with you and use it with your time with God this week.

Be sure to stop by the  Stewardship Table in the Narthex/Fellowship Hall this weekend and learn more about some practical ways in how you might be able to use your gift at that time with spending time with God.

What a great way to spend some of your time by spending it with our Savior and Friend.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THRIVENT MEMBERS:

As a Thrivent benefit member, each year you have “Choice Dollars” you are entitled to direct to a qualifying organization such as Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church.

  • The “Choice Dollars” you have in your account to donate for 2018 may be donated in January through March of 2019.

Beautiful Savior has been the designated recipient of over $2000 for 2018 so far, but it is possible for many more dollars to be donated by our Thrivent members. Designating your “Choice Dollars” is sim-ple. You may direct online or by phone. By computer, just log into Thrivent.com, scroll down to “direct Choice Dollars,” and log into your account by entering your User ID and password. Then you may direct the “Choice Dollars” to Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church or another qualifying recipient of your choice.

If you prefer, you may phone Thrivent at 1-800-847-4836 and speak to a Thrivent representative who will help you direct your “Choice Dollars.”

Remember, the Thrivent “Choice Dollars” you do not designate for 2018 will not be usable in 2019. DESIGNATE NOW — DON’T DELAY, and please remember Beautiful Savior when you do.

Sunday Fellowship - Bring your Breakfast Bakery, Fresh Fruit, etc.

Beautiful Savior will continue to partner with Publix to deliver bakery and bread to Salvation Army on Sunday mornings.  However, our church will share the responsibility with The Tabernacle Church starting this year by alternating months for the Publix pick up at 6:30 AM.

  • This will be an opportunity for congregation members to bring something (bakery, fruit, etc) to share for Sunday Fellowship. Watch for which weekends we need breakfast buffet items donated from our church family.

MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

We will continue to need volunteers every Sunday to assist for the 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM fellowship hours. Sign up is posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall.

If you are new to volunteering for this church activity, just let us know and you can partner up with a Board Member.

Let us know if you have any questions!

KITCHEN DONATIONS:

Members are always so willing to contribute items to the kitchen and it is very much appreciated.

A huge thank you to those who contributed paper  toweling!!

  • Donations  of various cleaning supplies including Clorox wipes would be appreciated in the months of September/October to help with the kitchen supply costs! Just drop off anytime in the kitchen.

Thank you!!  from your Beautiful Savior Fellowship Board

HELPING HANDS TEAM

Helping Hands Needs Your HELP

Serve the Lord by serving His people as the winds knock down the branches and the rain grows the grass and shrubs like crazy.

Our snowbird helpers have flown north so we welcome you to join us on Wednesday mornings for Men’s Fellowship and light yard work.

We need help with trimming, pruning, edging and mowing as well as just riding around in a cart picking up debris, blowing and vacuuming, or crushing cans.

We also have many repairs and special projects for those with special skills (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, etc.).

If Wednesday morning doesn’t fit your schedule, come any day of the week and we have plenty for you to do.

We also provide these services for those members and their friends who could use a helping hand.

SERVICE GUILD

If you’re looking for an opportunity to serve Our Lord at Beautiful Savior, you are welcome to attend our monthly meetings to learn how you can participate through the Service Guild.

Our efforts help supply funds to purchase kitchen equipment, paraments and articles for the Altar Guild, support for the Youth Group and many items not covered by the church’s budget.

Feel free to join us and participate in one OR all of our activities:

  • Our Business Meetings: 1st Tuesday of the month, 10:00-12:00 in the Wayman L. Still Building,
